Bring on October!
It is hard to believe that we are already a month into the school year. Students have been working hard, practicing classroom and school expectations and procedures. Students are reminded that they are to line up in our spot at the warning bell, and then enter the school in a calm manner. Congratulations to John Darling for raising over $2500.00 for the Terry Fox Foundation. This is an incredible achievement! This week in Language, students will be continuing their research and biography writing on a Hero of their choice. Students are working on researching, finding important and relevant information and recording their finding in jot note form. They will then be writing a biography on their Hero. This will be done in the form of paragraphs. We will be reviewing paragraph structure and proper writing conventions. In Reading, we will be starting our class read aloud "The Wild Robot". Students will be asked to use visualizing and inferring as a comprehension strategy. In Math, we will be looking at large number addition and subtraction strategies as well as the use of variable in algebraic expressions. In Science, students will be continuing to explore the 5/6 Kingdoms of life focusing on the Animal Kingdom. This week will be full of learning!
