Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing weekend. I can smell the warm weather in the air.
Welcome back!
I am so excited to be fundraising for the MS Read-a-thon! There are a lot of fun activities planned that will surely get everyone reading! Don't forget to bring in your donations. On Friday we will be having a special spirit day... students are encouraged to come dressed at their favourite character from their favourite book!
Math - We will be looking at the concept of ratios and what they represent in mathematics. Students will explore a variety of real life situations and problems where ratios are present. Reading - Students will be starting a project on theme. They need to select a children's book that has a clear theme (courage, kindness, friendship, etc). They will be preparing a mini book talk and then reading the book to the class. Practice and preparation will be key! We will also be finishing up our read aloud, Refugee. Students will be demonstrating their understanding of the book by tracing one of the characters journey throughout the book highlighting key events. Writing - Students will be adding to their writers tool kit by learning about millions dollar words, similes and metaphors. They will need to use these new skills as their write their paragraph of the week. Science - Both the grade 5s and 6s will be preparing for and then participating in a class debate about what energy source will be use to power the cities of the future. The debate will take place on Thursday. Lots of fun and learning happening in A3! |
