HAPPY TUESDAY!
I hope that everyone had a relaxing and rejuvenating extra long weekend. It is crazy that think that we are already approaching the end of April. I am so proud of all the hard work that went into the city projects and I can't wait to see what more we can accomplish this school year. This week we are celebrating Earth Week in A3. Students are encouraged to bring a litter-less lunch (we will be discussing this in class today). We will also be doing some brainstorming about ways that we can reduce our impact on the Earth. Math- We will be finishing up our work with decimals. Students will be exploring multiplying and dividing a decimal by a whole number (grade 6) and multiplying/dividing by 10, 100, 1000s and 0.1, 0.01. Writing -We will be finishing our "Connecting to a bad day" Writing. Students will be submitting this piece to be assessed. The rubric has been posted in Google Classroom. Ms. Smith HAPPY MONDAY!
I hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend and is ready to get down to work! We have a lot to do and not that much time to do it in. Remember that Thursday is our Spring Learning Convention where students will be showcasing their Sustainable Cities. Drop by the Library between 11:45 and 12:45 to see the amazing and thoughtful designs the students of A3 and A1 came up with. Math - We will continue to look at operations with decimals. Students will be practicing adding, subtraction, and multiplying/dividing by 10s, 100s, and 1000s. Writing - We will be finishing up our writing piece that recounted a rough day. Students are working hard to include figurative language, complex sentences, and triple scoop words. Reading - Students will be reading their chosen book to the class, the focus is on reading with confidence and expression. We will also be looking into what goes into a good reading response. Focusing on making meaningful connections that help us better understand the story. Science - We will be putting the finishing touches on our cities. Looking forward to another great week! Ms. Smith Good Morning!
I hope that everyone had a rejuvenating weekend. I was busy learning WAY TOO MUCH at the Google Summit, and I can't wait to incorporate some of what I learned in the up coming weeks. Last week was a bit rocky, but I am ready to get things back on track. We will be moving a head with all of our projects and perhaps starting some new ones! Math - We will be looking at decimal operations. Students will be solving problems that involve the addition and subtraction of decimal numbers to thousandths. Reading - Students will be sharing one of the stories that they chose for their project to the class. We will also be looking at what makes a good reading response, focusing on that strategy making connections. Writing - We will be switching things up this week and instead of writing a paragraph students will be working on ways to make their writing more interesting to readers by inviting them to connect. Students will be planning, drafting, writing, and revising a piece of writing this week. Science/Social Studies - Students will be done building their cities this week and will be moving on to the next stage of the project. I am happy to invite all parents to come and celebrate the amazing learning that as occurred in A3 over the past few weeks by joining us at the Spring Learning Convention. Come and see that incredible work that has gone into planning the cities of the future. Looking forward to a great week! Ms. Smith |
