Well, we are down to the final 5 days! This week will be very busy, filled with fun, friends, and of course learning.
Don't forget that our Seasonal Concert performances are on Tuesday and Wednesday at 1:50. Doors open at 1:30. On Friday we will be having Pajama day! Other than that, our week will be just a normal week! In Math, we are continuing with exploring the concept of unit rate. This week students will take their first stab at Project Based Learning. Each student will be planned a holiday meal. Making sure to keep their budgets in check, and purchasing enough food for the entire dinner party. In Writing, we will be spending some time on student choice. Focusing on using our tool kit to produce more detailed pieces of writing. In Reading, we will be finishing off our explorations into summarizing fiction and non-fiction texts. In Social Studies, we will be looking at the impact that Canadian First Nations have had on present Canadian identity. In Health, we will be finishing up our unit on healthy eating and active living. This week will fly by!

Welcome to December! With only 3 weeks until the Winter Break things in A3 show no signs of slowing down.
In Math, we will be looking at concepts of measurement, focusing on mass, capacity, volume, as well as improving our estimation skills. In Writing, we will be returning to mini lessons on writing techniques that add to our writers tool box. We will be learning about "million dollar words" as we as personification. Students will have the opportunity to practice these new skills using the program called "Write About". Ask you child to see their posts! In Reading, we will continue to look at summarizing, but this week we will be focusing on summarizing non-fiction texts. In Social Studies we will be starting our unit on communities, past and present, that Canada what it is today. We will begin this week by focusing on the concept of historical significance. How do we determine what is significant or not? I am very excited to see where our learning takes us this week! |
