This week we have a very fun and awesome opportunity to learn about electricity and energy as we welcome Engineering Science Quest into our classroom. On Wednesday, the students will be engaged in the scientific process as they work to create a variety of different circuit systems and electrical devices.
In Math, we will be continuing to explore patterns. Students will be solving problems that require them to extend, describe, and create a variety of patterns. We will also be looking at how graphing a pattern can help us to extend or visualize a pattern. In Writing, students will be starting a new paragraph of the week, this week they will be writing about their most memorable field trip. Check in with your child as the week goes on to see how their paragraph is coming. All their work is in google classroom, which they can access from home. In Reading, we will be finishing up our class read aloud by focusing on the books theme of change. Students are being asked to think about how the characters changed and evolved throughout the story, as well as, trace the changes that occurred in their thinking and understanding. They will also be working on their book talk. Ask your son or daughter what narrative they have chosen to do their book talk on. In Social Studies, we will be finishing up out unit on Communities in Canada: Past and Present, by critically thinking about what it means to be Canadian today. Students will be creating a time line that traces the origins of present day Canadian identity through history. Details of the assignments will be posted on google classroom. In Science, we will be starting our unit on electricity. Students will be looking at some of the main characteristics of electricity, for example, how it travels. This week will just fly by!
