Good Morning!
I hope that everyone had a great weekend and was able to get our and enjoy the great weather. I think summer is making a comeback! We have a very busy week this week! The Terry Fox Run is happening on Wednesday September 25th. Students are asked to bring in a toonie to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation. On Thursday, September 26th, we are heading to the First People’s Festival at the Waterloo Region Museum. This is an amazing opportunity for students to learn about the current situations that the First Nations populations are facing today. Math - We are continuing to explore the relationships between a shapes dimensions and their area and perimeter. Students will be exploring the area of a parallelogram. Science - We will be continuing to investigate the 6 kingdoms of life. Reading - We will be continuing our class read aloud “Red Wolf” focussing on making connections as a comprehension strategy. Writing - We will be taking a closer look at biographies, analysing the form and components. The goal is to be able to write their own next week. More on this assignment to come. Art - We will be looking at the elements of design focusing on line. Looking forward to a great week of learning!

Happy Monday Everyone!
I hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend and is ready to get back into the swing of things. It is a short week for students as Friday is a P.D. Day which means no school for students. Wednesday is picture day, so I hope everyone brings their smiles. Today is our field trip to the Outdoor Education Center. I am so excited for this opportunity! Here is what we will be getting up to academically this week! Math - We will be starting a unit looking at multiplication and division how they apply to the formulas for the area of rectangles and parallelograms. Science - We will be looking at the linnaeus classification system and the 6 living kingdoms. Students will practise classifying things in the living world. Reading - We will be continuing our class read aloud “Red Wolf” focussing on making connections as a comprehension strategy. Writing - We will be taking a closer look at biographies, analysing the form and components. The goal is to be able to write their own next week. More on this assignment to come. Math - This week we will be looking more at our mindset during math class. We will be solving a variety of problems that require students to think creatively, work collaboratively, and persevere. Writing - we will be setting up our writers workshop, setting expectations, and getting the routine down. Reading - We will continue our read aloud, “Red Wolf”.
