Good Monday Morning!
Just another reminder that students need to have a pair of gym appropriate indoor shoes. Also, students need to have snow pants and snow boots in order to be in the field at nutrition break. I know a lot of students enjoy playing football at break time and this will require them to have snow pants and snow boots at school. We will be continuing our class discussions on bullying. Students have been very attentive during our discussions so far, discussing strategies for dealing with a bully, sharing stories, and making personal connections to the books read. Have a chat with your child about bullying and ways that we can prevent it. Math - We will be having a quiz on tuesday to finish off our data management unit. Our next unit will look at fractions, percents, and decimals. Students will be exploring the relationship between the three and will practice converting between the three. Reading - We will be looking at the comprehension strategy, Asking Questions. Students will be exploring how asking questions before, during and after reading helps them to deepen their understanding of what they are reading. We will be starting our read aloud of “The Bridge Home”. Each week students will be comparing the section read to another text explored during class time. Students then will make connections between the two texts and themselves. Writing - This week we will continue adding to our writers tool box, focussing on adding detail to our writing. Science - Students will be working hard on their biodiversity research project. We will be sharing our learning in a convention style presentation in the library. The Biodiversity Convention will be held in the library on Wednesday, November 27, from 1:45 - 2:45. This is a drop in event. Parents are invited to come by and see all the amazing projects that A3 has been working so hard on.
