Good Monday Morning!
Just another reminder that students need to have a pair of gym appropriate indoor shoes. Also, students need to have snow pants and snow boots in order to be in the field at nutrition break. I know a lot of students enjoy playing football at break time and this will require them to have snow pants and snow boots at school. This week is is Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week in Ontario. This week is an opportunity for students and staff to reinforce clear and positive messages that bullying is not acceptable in our schools and communities. We will be having class discussions about bullying awareness and prevention as the week goes on and hopefully students will develop a deeper understanding about what bullying is and how to put an end to it. Math - We will be continuing our learning on reading and interpreting data. Students will explore different measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode) and will look at the difference between discrete and continuous data. Reading - We will be looking at the comprehension strategy, Asking Questions. Students will be exploring how asking questions before, during and after reading helps them to deepen their understanding of what they are reading. In addition, we will be starting some pre-reading activities for our next read aloud, “A Bridge Home”. Ask your child about the book as the week goes on! Writing - This week we will continue to revisit some key writing techniques that they can use to help improve their writing. (power of three and million dollar words). Science - Students will be working hard on their biodiversity research project. We will be sharing our learning in a convention style presentation in the library. The Biodiversity Convention will be held in the library on Friday November 29, from 1:40 - 2:40. This is a drop in event.
