Good Monday Morning!
As the snowy weather returns students are reminded that they need to have snow pants, snow boots and mittens in order to be in the field at nutrition break. We will be having Engineering Science Quest (ESQ) come in for a workshop on January 14th. The workshop will cost $3.00 per student. In the workshop, students will explore the world of circuits! Please bring in $3.00 ASAP, preferably before this Tuesday. Math - We will be finishing up our unit on decimals, fractions, and percents. We will have a small quiz on Thursday. After that, we will be looking at patterns and algebraic relationships. Reading - We will be continuing our class read aloud, “The Bridge Home”. This week students will be digging deeper into the issue of child labour comparing the character in our read aloud to some real life child labourers. Students will be using the “asking questions” to help them deepen their understanding. Writing - This week we will continue adding to our writers tool box, focusing on adding detail to our writing. Social Studies- Students will be starting a unit on Heritage and Identity: communities in Canada, Past and Present.
