Good Monday Morning!
As the snowy weather returns students are reminded that they need to have snow pants and snow boots in order to be in the field at nutrition break. I know a lot of students enjoy playing football at break time and this will require them to have snow pants and snow boots at school. Math - We will continue to explore decimals, fractions, and percents. Reading - We will be continuing our class read aloud, “The Bridge Home”. This week students will be digging deeper into the issue of child labour comparing the character in our read aloud to some real life child laborers. Students will be using the “asking questions” to help them deepen their understanding. Writing - This week we will continue adding to our writers tool box, focusing on adding detail to our writing. Social Studies- Students will be starting a unit on Heritage and Identity: communities in Canada, Past and Present. We will begin by asking the questions, “What does it mean to be Canadian?” and “What are some symbols of Canada?”. Art - We will explore creating winter landscapes using different techniques and materials. Important Dates: Dec. 2 - Poinsettia and Chocolate Pickup Dec. 19 - Seasonal Show #1-9:30 am (Front Door open at 9:15) - Seasonal Show #2-1:45 pm (Front Door open at 1:30) Looking forward to another great week of learning!
